1. Long ago when Christ our Savior
Did upon this earth abide,
He did not forget the children,
But He called them to His side.
Refrain:
There’s a welcome for the children,
In the Savior’s loving heart;
There’s a welcome for the children;
In His love they have a part.
2. This dear Savior still is living,
Tho’ His form we cannot see;
Still His gentle voice is calling,
“Let the children come to me.”
3. Come, ye children, come to Jesus;
He will hear you when you pray;
He will kindly guide your footsteps
In the shining upward way.
4. Little ones of ev’ry nation
Doth the blessed Lord invite,
Rich or poor, it does not matter,
All are precious in His sight.
