1. There is a word, from heav’n it rings,
Which to my heart new hope doth bring,
Speed it, like dove, on swiftest wing,
The message this, “Bring back the King.”
Chorus:
“Bring back the King,” we sing, we sing,
Join in the song, each breathing thing;
His chosen ones to Christ we’ll bring,
While heav’n and earth with praises ring;
Earth free from all sin’s curse and sting,
When Christ our Lord returns as King.
2. O blessed word, earth helpless lies,
Much ruled, yet ruined by sin’s sting;
Waiting God’s chosen hosts to rise,
And heed the call, “Bring back the King.”
3. The day has long since passed away,
When righteousness did spread her wing;
Iniquity holds fearful sway,
Earth, groaning, cries, “Bring back the King.”
4. Nations alert with greed for power,
Oppression grinds in ev’rything;
The Clock of Ages strikes the hour,
“Pow’r is with God, Bring back the King.”
5. The saints of God are sorely tried,
The church lives in the worldly ring;
Betraying Christ the crucified,
O, Judah true! “Bring back the King.”
6. To the benighted souls of men,
The Gospel witness we must bring;
Till every tribe has heard, and then
We’ll go to meet our coming King.
7. I’ll send the gospel to all men,
And tell to all the perishing;
That Jesus soon will come again,
I’m living to “Bring back the King.”
