1. Do not think of Jesus as an absent King,
Reigning in the heaven where the angels sing;
He is ever near you and will there abide;
On your pilgrim journey, Jesus is your guide.
Chorus:
Ever present Savior, never failing guide,
Help me not to falter whatsoe’er betide;
All the way to glory hold my trembling hand,
Till my feet are planted on the promised land.
2. Wearied by the burden of the toilsome way?
Just a talk with Jesus brightens ev’ry day;
Help the reaper gather in the golden grain,
Knowing that your labors cannot be in vain.
3. Are you tried and tempted? He was tempted, too,
But He won the battle and will win for you;
Rest upon His promise, trust His loving care;
Take the Holy Spirit with you ev’rywhere.
4. When the clouds of sorrow gather in your sky,
Still your Lord and Master, though unseen, is nigh;
Still the sun is shining, still His love endures,
And the pray’r of faith His blessing still secures.
