1. O is thy life sad, while others are glad,
As thro’ life’s temptations you go?
Then lift up thy head, for Jesus hath said,
“I’ll keep thee from evil below.”

I’m kept by His pow’r, safe ev’ry hour,
Making His promises mine;
Mercy omniscient, grace all sufficient;
I’m kept by His power Divine.
2. Does Satan engage, and all the world rage,
Thy comfort and joy to decrease;
O hear the glad word! it is from the Lord,
“I’ll keep him in sweet, perfect peace.”
3. And when in the day of “falling away,”
When error and sin doth appal;
Then honor the Word, and trust in the Lord,
He keeps thee, and thou shalt not fall.
4. When labor is done, and prize nearly won,
Still trust, the reward thou shalt reap;
With eye on the goal, be restful in soul,
All thou dost commit He will keep.
