1. Ye passersby, behold the Lord,
The road to Calvary pursue;
Our sins his load, by all abhorred
He bears it all for me, for you.
(Chorus) He came to die for me, ‘Tis Jesus
By His blood from sin I’m free,
‘Tis Jesus, He who broke the spell,
He saves from death and hell,
And He doeth all things well, ‘Tis Jesus.
2. His sacred limbs they stretch, they tear,
With nails they fasten to the wood;
His sacred limbs, exposed and bare,
And only covered with His blood.
3. Behold His temples, covered with thorn,
His bleeding hands extended wide;
His streaming feet, transfixed and torn,
The fountain gushing from His side!
4. O Thou dear, suff’ring Son of God,
How doth Thy heart to sinners move;
Sprinkle on us Thy precious blood,
And melt us with Thy dying love.
