1. There are times when heavy burdens press
Spirit, soul and body in distress;
Times when hearts would sink beneath life’s crushing load:
What should we do then, but “wait on God?”

He will strengthen thy heart’s breaking cord;

Be encouraged, He will keep His word.
2. There are times when duties would confuse,
And we wonder where our pow’rs to use,
We are ready in the Master’s cause to plod—
He will guide you safely, “wait on God.”
3. There are times when Satan doth oppose,
When his mighty pow’r and hate he shows,
When he threatens us as with a smiting rod:
Steadfast faith will conquer, “wait on God.”
4. There are times of peril and deceit,
Which the days of Noah will repeat;
When the wickedness of earth will drink her blood:
Christ will come, be patient, “wait on God.”
